11: Get These Upgrades First
You’ll want to upgrade Economics (Marketplaces), then upgrade Hovels into Dwellings, and then unlock farms. Farms take up more space, but they give you lots of food. They can only be built on certain fertile spots — so check for these areas as you expand!
12: Keep Your Soldiers Alive — The More Veterans The Better
Fighter smarter instead of harder. You’ll want to get the most out of each unit, and to do that, you should try to make everyone achieve veterancy. Stick your fresh recruits with your hero to help them become more experienced, and try not to send your veterans into deadly situations.
Build one shrine — and have your units retreat to the shrine to heal.
Your hero can fight an entire group of enemies by himself, so it’s a good idea to send him to fight one of the multiple groups attacking you while your units handle another wall.
13: Spiders / Giant Spiders Can Crawl Right Over Mountains
Check the enemy waves for spiders / giant spiders or flying units. These enemies can fly / crawl over walls, so be prepared to take these out.
14: Don’t Build Resource Gatherers Outside Walls By Wave 3
Why? Because Bandits are attacking! Bandits can steal resources from gatherer structures. Bandits can’t get over walls, so as long as you have walls surrounding your city, they’re just a minor nuisance. If your base has an opening, it’s incredibly annoying.
15: Star Metal Is The Most Valuable Resource — Sell It! (But Not All Of It)
And finally, you’ll sometimes find Star Metal resources on the map. This extremely rare resource is required for high-level upgrades, but in your early missions, you won’t need to access those enhancements. That’s where you can sell things — after constructing a Marketplace, you can sell resources like Star Metal.
If you’re full of any resources, sell them! And while the Stockyard lets you build Cavalry, it’s actually more useful to sell the animals you earn after each wave. Heavy Cavalry are incredibly useful, but Light Cavalry aren’t that great — skip them, sell the extra horses, and profit.
