#14 Dragon Age: Inquisition
- Developer: BioWare Edmonton
- Publisher: Electronic Arts
The third major installment to the Dragon Age franchise, Dragon Age: Inquisition is an action role-playing video game where players take on the role of an Inquisitor who is on a grand journey to deal with the civil unrest in the continent of Thedas.
While developers have set the game to be on the same continent of the past two installments, exploration for Dragon Age: Inquisition is rather massive in comparison. For instance, it’s been noted that the game features a map that is already five times larger than the setting of the first installment of the series. With all that said, you’ll want to set aside some time to really dive into the video game.
#13 Dark Souls 3
- Developer: FromSoftware
- Publisher: Bandai Namco Entertainment, FromSoftware
The fourth overall entry to the Souls series, Dark Souls III was marked as publisher Bandai Namco Entertainment’s fastest selling game, with a whopping three million copies sold worldwide in just two months after release.
If you enjoyed the previous installments of the Souls series then you won’t want to miss out on picking up Dark Souls III. Without getting too in-depth with the story, the game opens up with the Kingdom of Lothric. Players learn that the First Flame is dying out, which if extinguished, the Age of Dark would be upon the world leaving undead and cursed beings to rise.
The Age of Fire could be prolonged with the linking of the fires, which previously cost heroes to sacrifice their souls to kindle the First Flame. However, Prince Lothric has chosen to watch the flame die off.
#12 Shovel Knight
- Developer: Yacht Club Games
- Publisher: Yacht Club Games
Shovel Knight is a side-scrolling 2D hit that looks as if it belongs as a classic hit for the original Nintendo Entertainment System. It’s clear that the developers created this game after the love and joy from those early 2D side-scrolling platformers along with beat ‘em up video game titles.
The retro feel and vibe works perfectly along with tight controls, this is one game that you will not be able to put down easily. This title has been out for a number of years now with there being a few additional campaigns to enjoy.
Even if you didn’t enjoy the early years of Nintendo Entertainment System, Super Nintendo Entertainment System or Sega Genesis, this is still very much a must-play video game.
