The Best Xbox One Survival Games You Can Play Today

July 25, 2018 by Dennis Patrick

Check your vitals in these Xbox One survival games.

We Happy Few

  • Developer: Compulsion Games
  • Publisher: Gearbox Publishing

We Happy Few is an indie survival horror video game that comes from developers Compulsion Games, previously known for their release of Contrast. Overall, within the game, players are set in an alternative timeline in Europe where citizens are forced to consume a daily drug, hindering them away from the realities of the world.

Our protagonist has refused to accept the drug one day and becomes opened to the harsh horror world that he’s trapped within. However, without the drug, enforcers begin to hunt and track you down, ridding our protagonist once and for all. Currently the game has been available through Early Access though it will officially release in August of this year.

Subnautica

  • Developer: Unknown Worlds
  • Publisher: Unknown Worlds

Subnautica is a survival adventure game that is currently available for the PC platform with an Xbox One release coming later this year. Set within the late 22nd century, players step into the shoes of an astronaut who are set to discover and colonize new planets. However, early in the game, our protagonist is the lone survivor of a crashed spaceship.

Trapped on an aquatic planet filled with creatures, some of which will be hostile to the player, gamers are free to explore the world and progress through the narrative. During the journey, players will have to collect a variety of resources to maintain nutrition, hydration, and of course, oxygen.

However, if you wish to up the difficulty with the game, players can try out the Hardcore mode that will still require players to gather resources to maintain their protagonist’s survival, but the game will no longer allow a respawn after a death.
