Ranking The Must Have PlayStation 4 Exclusives Released So Far

May 23, 2019 by Dennis Patrick

Don’t pass up these PS4 exclusives.

#10 Yakuza 6: The Song of the Life
  • Developer: Sega
  • Publisher: Sega
  • Platforms: PS4
  • Release: April 17, 2018

For those familiar with the Yakuza series, the latest main installment of the series, Yakuza 6: The Song of Life, will pick back up the narrative storyline players have been following over the years. Just like previous installments to the franchise, gamers can expect a brawler fighting title with a slightly open world environment to explore. As players go through the game, they can level up and unlock useful skills to use against other Yakuza thugs. When it comes to the narrative, players will step into the shoes of Kazuma Kiryu once again who is on a mission to learn what has happened to Haruka after being locked away for three years.

#9 Uncharted The Lost Legacy
  • Developer: Naughty Dog
  • Publisher: Sony Computer Entertainment
  • Platforms: PS4
  • Release: August 22, 2017

The Uncharted: The Lost Legacy is not necessarily a standalone video game, but a single-player DLC for Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End. This upcoming story DLC will take place after the events of the fourth main Uncharted installment. Players will be taking on the role of Chloe Frazer as she travels to India’s Western Ghats mountain range amid a civil war in search for a mystical treasure. The game does take palce after the events of Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End and while you don’t need to play Uncharted 4 or arguably any of the previous installments, its well worth going back and doing so. Most of the main characters from this installment are side-characters from the previous Uncharted titles and it helps bring in some background details for the cast. Just keep in-mind that this game doesn’t feature the leading protagonist of the series, Nathan Drake.

#8 Ratchet & Clank
  • Developer: Insomniac Games
  • Publisher: Sony Computer Entertainment
  • Platforms: PS4
  • Release: April 12, 2016

Ratchet & Clank is a classic platformer that many of us remember playing when we were younger. The franchise has fallen a bit on hard times though it’s likely this new re-imagining of the very first title within the series will spark interest back up for the franchise once again. Outside of the video game, there is a connected feature animated film that can be picked up today. Gameplay is similar to the past video game titles from the series. Players will be progressing through the title with platforming mechanics along with beat ’em up style combat. There are also a variety of puzzles to solve along with racing levels and boss fights. While the animated film didn’t receive the most praise and welcomed reception, the video game is definitely a platformer you’ll want to include in your collection.

#7 Days Gone
  • Developer: SIE Bend Studio
  • Publisher: Sony Computer Entertainment
  • Platforms: PS4
  • Release: April 26, 2019

Days Gone seems to have a mixed reception between critics and fans alike.  You’re either going to love this game or can’t oversee some of the mechanics or bugs. This is a zombie post-apocalyptic game in which the world’s population has been dwindled down due to the virus that quickly took out major cities. Players take  on the role of a man named Deacon St. John who is looking to survive the world with the help of his mate Boozer. In order to keep up, Deacon and Boozer are forced into aiding other factions around the area with problems that have came up in their settlements. As you progress through the game, you learn more of Deacon’s backstory as he hopes to finally get questions answered since the world came crashing down.

Set in an open world, players will be working on completing a series of campaigns and quests that pop up. Again, there are multiple factions and its really up to players to decide what campaign is worth completing. Furthermore, this is a survival video game where players will have to venture out into the hostile world in order to gather supplies and resources. If you enjoy The Last of Us franchise and waiting on the upcoming sequel, then this will be a great title to hold you over until the upcoming sequel launches.

#6 Spider-Man
  • Developer: Insomniac Games
  • Publisher: Sony Interactive Entertainment
  • Platforms: PS4
  • Release: September 7, 2018

Spider-Man is an upcoming video game title under developers Insomniac Games who are previously known for their Ratchet & Clank and Resistance video game franchises. Their latest upcoming title will breathe some new life into the Spider-Man story as this video game title will not be linked to any past comic books or cinematic movies. Furthermore, we’re not going through some origin story of Spider-Man, instead, the video game will be focused around Peter Parker, eight years after he has established the role of being the famed hero. From what we know so far, this is an open-world title where the narrative will follow Peter Parker graduating college while keeping up as protector of New York City.

The video game will also give players the ability to go through the narrative as not only Spider-Man but as the civilian Peter Parker character as well. From what we know from so far through trailers released, Spider-Man’s main antagonist will be Mister Negative, who turns out to be Martin Li, one of New York’s prominent philanthropist and owner of the F.E.A.S.T. shelters that Peter’s Aunt May is employed.
