All Super Gems & Bonus Objectives | Episode 2 Guide
There are three hidden Super Gems in every level. Finding them can be challenging, so learn where to look to find all of them in the complete list of locations below.
- Chute Scoot Slopes
- Super Gem #1: Found under the first gear. Turn the red slide to reveal an alcove in the starting platform.
- Super Gem #2: Slide down the blue slide to get this easy gem.
- Super Gem #3: During the final slide section, hold left on the D-Pad to grab the gem. It’s on the wider slide section.
- Bonus Objective: The gold mushroom in this stage is on the high ledge above the star exit. Go to the last slide platform, and climb down the ladder near the yellow slide. Drop off the green grassy ledge to land on the high cliff with roots.
- Stumper Sneakaround
- Super Gem #1: After crossing the first bridge, grab the key from the root and drop down into the cave below with the locked door.
- Super Gem #2: On top of the spiked stumpers. Climb the ladder near the last P Switch and step onto the stumpers to get it.
- Super Gem #3: After lowering the final bridge, drop down into the area below. There’s a moving root you can grab.
- Bonus Objective: To defeat all three Piranha Creepers, you can drop down on their heads, or use turnips from roots.
- Mine Cart Sunset Rundown
- Super Gem #1: The first gem is visible from the start, behind a tall rock. Shoot a turnip at it to grab it after circling the starting area.
- Super Gem #2: You can’t miss it. Going under the starting track, you’ll see it.
- Super Gem #3: Rounding the next corner, shoot the POW block to reveal a hidden gem.
- Bonus Objective: To collect 140 coins, pull the roots at the start, shoot every enemy you see, and aim for the gold coin piles. There are some bonus coins you can collect hidden under the slide at the very end of the level, too.
- Sinister Street Signs
- Super Gem #1: Floating high up, on the invisible pathway. Tap the path to make it appear.
- Super Gem #2: Reach the tall building in the back-right corner with a P-Switch. Drop into the switch to make the gem rise up.
- Super Gem #3: To progress, you need to fall down and land on a P-Switch that’s surrounded by Mud Troopers. There’s a gem barricaded around stone blocks next to this switch.
- Bonus Objective: To defeat all the Mud Troopers, just trick the two footballers to charge into all of them. Keep running circles around the footballers until they defeat all the Mud Troopers.
- Floaty Fun Water Park
- Super Gem #1: There’s a small cave in the curved wall. Go inside to grab a gem.
- Super Gem #2: When riding the yellow pipe up, hold left / right to enter the side-pipe and grab this bonus gem.
- Super Gem #3: At the top of the level, drop down to land in the fenced area with a path leading underground. Go underground and grab the gem near a pile of coins.
- Bonus Objective: To defeat all the Goombas in these level, you need to grab the pickaxe power-up. It’s one of the three submerged roots near the exit. Use the wooden bridge to bounce off the last enemies’ heads.
- Drift-Along Canyon
- Super Gem #1: Enter the cave behind the two POW blocks to find a hidden super gem on the first river.
- Super Gem #2: Between the two rivers, tap the POW blocks and use the plug to reach the upper area. Chase down a roaming root to get the second Power Gem.
- Super Gem #3: While riding the second river raft, tap the POW block then throw a turnip at the Super Gem in the ruins.
- Bonus Objective: Complete this level without getting hit. Use the respawning turnip roots to attack the Bullet Bills and Hammer Bros — and don’t forget you can tap POW blocks to defeat enemies, or tap enemies to stun them.
- Sliding Slab Shuffle
- Super Gem #1: Reach the second floor and look on the back side of the second sliding slab you find — there’s a tiny doorway. Go inside and then slide it through the wall to reach a hidden platform with a gem.
- Super Gem #2: Found on the sliding slab near the three Bullet Bill cannons. Just on the opposite side.
- Super Gem #3: On the last sliding slab, there are three Bullet Bill cannons. Slide the slab so you can reach a single root with a gem before walking to the exit star.
- Bonus Objective: To clear this stage in four touches or less, you don’t need to tap the first slab at all. Just walk off the ledge and go up. You do need to tap the next slabs four times, but you don’t need to interact with the last slab at all.
- Spooky Specters at Shadow Manor
- Super Gem #1: In the dark manor, go right from the start to find a tiny hidden hallway that leads up to a Super Gem.
- Super Gem #2: There’s another door down from the first corner door. Climb the ladder and walk across the narrow passage to reach another, easier-to-spot Super Gem.
- Super Gem #3: Near the top, turn the crank until you can walk across the narrow ledge and reach the last Super Gem.
- Bonus Objective: The hidden 1-Up Mushroom is actually right behind where you start! Just turn around.
- Draggadon’s Revenge
- Super Gem #1: At the start of the level, look under the rocks near the steps down to find a hidden passage. Walk through to get the first Super Gem.
- Super Gem #2: At the platform lift, drop down onto the ledge as the lift goes up. There’s a single root with a Super Gem underneath the ladder.
- Super Gem #3: Near the end, there’s a lift that rises out of a rocky pit. While the lift is raised, drop into the pit and look left to find a hidden Super Gem.
- Bonus Objective: Complete the level without taking any damage. Practice when to run to cover and your route, and it shouldn’t be too hard. There aren’t any tricks to this. Be patient and you’ll succeed!
- Spinwheel Cog Ruins
- Super Gem #1: Found on one side of the orange gears.
- Super Gem #2: In the center of the map on a ledge. Turn the orange and red gears to reach it.
- Super Gem #3: At the end of the level, go down the path filled with enemies past the ladder up and enter the purple pipe. Walk toward the blue Toad to get a gem.
- Bonus Objective: The hidden Gold Mushroom is under the turquoise gears. Drop down to the sand below, and look for an alcove with a single root. Pull the root to find it.
- Windup Stairs
- Super Gem #1: Enter the ridge balcony as it shifts and find the side door. It leads to another small interior with a Super Gem.
- Super Gem #2: Reach the smaller left shifting balcony. There’s an interior alcove with a Super Gem you can spot by spinning the diorama around.
- Super Gem #3: The last gem is located underneath the Star Exit. Reach the upper interior passage on the right balcony, and wait for the stairs to lower — there’s a hidden door leading into the center of the diorama you can access from here.
- Bonus Objective: The golden mushroom is located next to Spike — look underneath the tiny bridge leading to the balcony you can use to stomp on Spike.
- Up ‘n’ Down Terrace
- Super Gem #1: One a corner hedge, accessible from a ladder.
- Super Gem #2: Behind a hedge wall. Lower the white wall, or drop down from the hedges.
- Super Gem #3: On a high ledge corner you can’t reach — you’ll need to pull an enemy root out on a high ledge and throw it to hit the gem.
- Bonus Objective: To clear the level using the switch three times, press the back-right switch first, then the front-left. Climb the ladder up, and press the final P-Switch across the hedges to complete the level.
- Clear Pipe Puzzleplex
- Super Gem #1: From the start, go right and drop down to collect this gem.
- Super Gem #2: Near the center, blocked by spikes. You need to get the floating pickaxe power-up to get through the spike shells.
- Super Gem #3: Go left and spin around near the pickaxe power-up.
- Bonus Objective: Collect 70 coins — don’t miss the invisible coins in the optional tube paths, and grab the gold mushroom near the exit.
- Midnight in the Wandering Woods
- Super Gem #1: Past the first stumps, climb the yellow ladder and stand on top to reach a small fenced gem.
- Super Gem #2: Near the start of the level, there’s a small raised platform with a single root. Pull it to get a key — throw the key over the fence, and take it to the back-left corner of the level to unlock the door.
- Super Gem #3: Found in a hidden alcove directly underneath the star exit.
- Bonus Objective: Near the locked door, there are two three-tall stumpers. Climb the ladder, then ride the two stumpers to the surface above the locked door. The gold mushroom is hidden up there.
- Double Cherry Spires
- Super Gem #1: After hiding the two switches and raising the towers, you’ll find a doorway at the bottom of the tower with a gem inside.
- Super Gem #2: Don’t pull the root inside the tower lift until you reach the second floor of the central tower. Take the turnip root and throw it to get the floating gem.
- Super Gem #3: Raise the right tower to find a key root. Throw the key across the fence to unlock the door on the first floor.
- Bonus Objective: The gold mushroom is located in the back-right room, in a hidden alcove.
- Bullet Bill’s Touchy Trials
- Super Gem #1: In a single root, behind the two stone blocks you need to destroy at the start of the level.
- Super Gem #2: Inside the tap platform in the middle of the level. Lower it and enter the small doorway instead of riding it up. Raise the platform to get the Super Gem inside.
- Super Gem #3: Once you reach the top level, use the ladder on the side of the double Bullet Bill cannon platform to drop down off the opposite side. Land on the touch platforms below and ride them to a secret ledge.
- Bonus Objective: On the ledge right above the window grate, after riding the touch platform up. Go through the hall and look at the small dead end path to find a gold mushroom.
- Spinwheel Sky Fort
- Super Gem #1: Behind the POW blocks on the orange spinwheel platform.
- Super Gem #2: On an optional level of the green spinwheel platform.
- Super Gem #3: Hidden under a root in the orange spinwheel platform. Turn until you reveal the red Bullet Bill cannon. It’s on the single root near this cannon.
- Bonus Objective: Complete the level without taking any damage. Don’t forget that you can tap enemies to stun them for a second. Just keep tapping them if you need to run by piranha plants.
- Battle Tower Blitz
- Super Gem #1: In the first area, enter the optional pipe section when riding the pipe up.
- Super Gem #2: Past the magikoopas, you’ll land on a platform with other Toads. Drop down the missing wall section to find an interior with a gem.
- Super Gem #3: Near the exit, you’ll gain control of a turnip cannon. Turn left and look behind the cannon — break all the stone blocks to find the last super gem.
- Bonus Objective: To collect 170 coins, don’t miss the hidden coins and the roots in the last section. There are hidden coins near the star exit, and in most of the arenas. Smash everything with the turnip cannon, defeat every enemy — if you take no damage, you can get a bonus 10 coins when you collect the red mushroom.
