#15 Control
- Developer: Remedy Entertainment
- Publisher: 505 Games
Remedy Entertainment released a new video game title into the market in 2019. We’re referring to Control, a supernatural video game that follows a young woman named Jesse who comes across a hidden government building. Once a great division for studying and at times combating supernatural entities that show up in the world, a new unknown force has caused mass hysteria. Luckily, the lockdown measures have kept this force from exiting the building and flooding the world. Now Jesse is not only here as the new accepted leader of this division but also unlock some of her own secrets from her past.
This game is quite the cinematic experience as the developers don’t unleash the full story for players to enjoy right away. The deeper you dig the more questions and motives present themselves so if you’re into third-person shooters with a narrative focus then you’ll want to dive into Control. Likewise, this is a slightly open-world experience for players to go through. Essentially, this is a Metroidvania style game where you’ll need to explore the maze-like open world but expect to backtrack as you learn new moves or items to unlock select areas to further explore.
#14 The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition
- Developer: Bethesda Game Studios
- Publisher: Bethesda Softworks
Skyrim is the fifth game in Bethesda’s ever popular series of role-playing games. Like its predecessors, Skyrim takes place in an open environment which is full of exploration, wonder and a whole slew of quests. You can easily spend countless hours within this fantasy world and we’d honestly be surprised to find a gamer who has yet to experience this journey. If you have yet to do so, pick up The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and begin to weave your own tale.
#13 Dragon Age: Inquisition
- Developer: BioWare Edmonton
- Publisher: Electronic Arts
The third major installment to the Dragon Age franchise, Dragon Age: Inquisition is an action role-playing video game where players take on the role of an Inquisitor who is on a grand journey to deal with the civil unrest in the continent of Thedas.
While developers have set the game to be on the same continent of the past two installments, exploration for Dragon Age: Inquisition is rather massive in comparison. For instance, it’s been noted that the game features a map that is already five times larger than the setting of the first installment of the series. With all that said, you’ll want to set aside some time to really dive into the video game.
#12 Watch dogs 2
- Developer: Ubisoft
- Publisher: Ubisoft
After the success Ubisoft had with their new IP Watch Dogs, a sequel was released back in 2016. This time around, players are taken to the San Francisco Bay Area to explore and cause havoc by hacking various terminals connecting to city functions or personal smartphones. Much of the same gameplay mechanics are present, though the developers did make a few overhauls such as driving.
#11 Saints Row 4
- Developer: Volition
- Publisher: Deep Silver
Saints Row 4 is the open-world genre taken to its most logical conclusion. However, much like the previous installments to the Saints Row franchise, the video game encourages over-the-top moments and wacky storylines.
Within the game, players will have to face against an alien invasion shortly after becoming the President of the United States of America. Outside of the usual artillery weapons at your disposal, developers Volition added in supernatural powers.
