Top Upcoming Action-Adventure Video Games Of 2019

June 20, 2019 by Dennis Patrick

Top most anticipated action-adventure video games of 2019.

Judge Eyes
  • Developer: Sega
  • Publisher: Sega
  • Platforms: PC, PS4, XBO
  • Release: 2019

Sega has been teasing a new IP for a while now stating that the developers who were behind the popular Yakuza series have been working on a brand new IP. This project has apparently been in the works for over three years but we’re only just now getting a look at the game. Gamers can expect Judge Eyes to release next year.

There are still plenty of details that Sega is holding away from the public at the moment but during a PlayStation Lineup Tour event, Sega unveiled Judge Eyes. The game follows a lawyer who is seeking out clues in order to get at the bottom of a crime. Being that this is the development team who was also responsible for bringing out the Yakuza series, you can expect a similar combat system.

For instance, the gameplay footage showcased does follow our protagonist fighting a group of enemies with hand-to-hand combat. We’re unsure if this game will also see any action taking place in a courthouse much like the Ace Attorney series.

For now, we only know a brief synopsis of Judge Eyes along with some gameplay footage.

Gears of War 5
  • Developer: The Coalition
  • Publisher: Microsoft Studios
  • Platforms: XBO, PC
  • Release: 2019

Gears of War 5, or otherwise now known as simply Gears 5, will follow a new protagonist, Kait Diaz. Within the game, Kait has been dealing with visions and it’s leading her to drop away from The Coalition Army. Within the game, players are potentially seeking out the truth behind the Locust origins but the journey that Kait will endure will be difficult.

We’ll see a number of new locations to visit and of course a plethora of enemies you’ll need to fire or saw through. Of course, for now, the game is only slated to release sometime in 2019.

Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night
  • Developer: ArtPlay, DICO
  • Publisher: 505 Games
  • Platforms: PC, PS4, PSV, Switch, XBO
  • Release: 2019

Led by former Castlevania series producer, Koji Igarashi, comes the upcoming action-adventure game Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night. The video game is in the style of Metroidvania as you explore, craft new weapons, and of course, find new armor.

The video game will follow an orphan named Miriam who has been cursed by an alchemist which is slowly turning her skin into crystal. In order to stop the curse, she must explore a castle to find the summoner, Gebel, who as it turns out had suffered the same condition.

Combat is done through an assortment of items that you’ll come across. Players will be able to equip to your character with different items, magical skills and accessories that can buff your stats.

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice
  • Developer: FromSoftware
  • Publisher: Activision
  • Platforms: PC, PS4, XBO
  • Release: March 22, 2019

FromSoftware, known best for their Souls series, has a brand new upcoming title known as Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. This is a third-person RPG title with brutal samurai-style swordplay. So far we know that the game will have players take the role of a shinobi who finds his lord was kidnapped. During the scuffle, our protagonist was left battered along with his arm severed.

Thanks to a busshi our shinobi manages to keep his life. In place of his missing arm is a prosthetic that players will be able to equip different gadgets and tools to use again enemies. While the developers FromSoftware may be best known for their Souls series lately, it appears that the Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice will be a bit different.

This game will also rely less on players chipping away against an enemy’s health in order to defeat the foe. Instead, the game may be a bit faster with katana attacks offering players the chance to land a blow that will instantly kill the enemy.

Luigi’s Mansion 3
  • Developer: Nintendo
  • Publisher: Nintendo
  • Platforms: NS
  • Release: 2019

The Luigi’s Mansion series doesn’t have very many installments attached. Outside of its main debut on the Nintendo GameCube, the series only has one other console installment for the Nintendo 3DS called Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon. With the franchise, players are put into the role of Luigi who must bust a variety of ghosts and while we knew that the original installment was soon finding a release again in the market for the Nintendo 3DS, it came as a surprise that a third installment was in the works.

During a September 2018 Nintendo Direct, Nintendo revealed that Luigi’s Mansion 3 is being developed for the Nintendo Switch. Unfortunately, we didn’t get any details as to what this third installment will entail quite yet, but it’s supposedly coming into the market in 2019.

We’re likely going to see some type of Joy-Con motion controller gameplay featured within the game but again, at this point, we’re simply speculating as to what we can expect from the upcoming installment.
