World of Warcraft’s Tomb of Sargeras raid is officially available, making it the 20th raid tier in the franchise’s storied existence. Before you round up your friends to defeat the 9 bosses the Legion have summoned to destroy Azeroth, take a few minutes to go over our guide. Just make sure you have enough inventory space for all of the epic loot you will be collecting.

Goroth
“As punishment for past failures Goroth’s flesh is marred with searing wounds. With every movement this behemoth makes, his flesh crackles and hisses with unending torment, a scourge he is happy to inflict upon those who oppose him.”
Bloodlust/Heroism: Start of the encounter.
All Roles
- Do not get hit by infernal spikes.
- Run behind infernal spikes during Infernal Burning.
DPS
- Melee DPS stand behind tanks.
- Ranged DPS stand together so that infernal spikes stack.
- When targeted by Shattering Star (Big Arrow) move the line so that it hits infernal spikes. Make sure to leave at least one spike active.
- When targeted by Crashing Comet (Green Swirl) move away from everyone else, and the infernal spikes.
Heals
- Heal the raid after Shattering Star.
- Heal the tank after they receive Burning Armor.
Tanks
- Keep Goroth away from infernal spikes.
- Tank with Burning Armor should move away from the raid and all infernal spikes.
- Off-tank needs to taunt Goroth when Burning Armor is applied to main tank.
Demonic Inquisition
“Anticipating the arrival of mortal forces invading the Tomb of Sargeras, Kil’jaeden has called on his best captors, Atrigan and Belac, to lock down the interlopers and prevent them from using the Pillars to advance deeper into the dungeon.”
Notable Loot: Tier 20 Helmet
Bloodlust/Heroism: Start of the encounter.
All Roles
- Use Confess (Extra Action Button) before you reach 100 torment.
DPS
- Spread out before Echoing Anguish (Purple debuff) is dispelled.
- Do not attack Atrigan during Bone Saw (Whirlwind).
- Do not attack Belac during Fel Squall (Green Fire).
- Interrupt Belac’s Pangs of Guilt cast.
- (Heroic Difficulty) Players targeted by Quills stand still.
Heals
- Do not dispel Echoing Anguish (Purple debuff) until players have spread out.
Tanks
- Belac can not be tanked.
- Keep Atrigan close to Belac but not stacked.
- Move Atrigan away from the raid during Bone Saw (Whirlwind).
- Off-tank needs to taunt Atrigan when main tank is about to confess.
Harjatan
“Harjatan was trained from birth to demolish his enemies. Through a conquest of savage brutality, he gathered throngs of cave dwelling murlocs who see him as a god. Now, the naga brute merely has to bark a command and hordes of devout followers set themselves to task.”

Bloodlust/Heroism: Start of the encounter.
All Roles
- Every player targeted by Aqueous Blast should drop the puddle on the same side of the room.
- Every player targeted by Drenching Waters should run to the outer edge of the room.
- Stand in front of Harjatan when he reaches 100 energy and uses Unchecked Rage.
- Avoid damage from Drenching Slough and Drenching Waters.
- Run away from Driven Assault when fixated by Razorjaw Gladiators.
DPS
- Kill Razorjaw Gladiators and Razorjaw Wavemenders when spawned.
- Interrupt Razorjaw Wavemenders when they cast Watery Splash.
- Use personal survival cooldowns during Frigid Blows.
- (Heroic Difficulty) Kill Razorjaw Taskmasters when spawned.
Heals
- Use healing cooldowns during Frigid Blows.
- Heal tank with Jagged Abrassion (Bleed debuff).
Tanks
- Turn Harjatan towards the raid when he reaches 100 energy and uses Unchecked Rage.
- Tank Razorjaw Gladiators and Razorjaw Wavemenders on Harjatan.
- Off-tank needs to taunt Harjatan when main tank reaches 5 stacks of Jagged Abrasion (Bleed debuff).
- (Heroic Difficulty) Tank Razorjaw Taskmasters away from Harjatan.
Mistress Sassz’ine
“Mistress Sassz’ine has spent a lifetime binding the denizens of the ocean to her dark will. With this power, she summons nightmares from the briny depths to wash away any who dare challenge her.”
Notable Loot: Tier 20 Legs
Bloodlust/Heroism: Start of the encounter.
All Roles
- If targeted by Hydra Shot run behind other players.
- Do not soak Hydra Shot if you have the Hydra Acid debuff.
- Stand behind Concealing Murk puddles to avoid Slicing Tornado’s full damage.
- Step in an out of Thundering Shock puddles to knock Murlocs off you.
- Do not stand in Concealing Murk and Thundering Shock at any other time.
- Use personal survival cooldowns if targeted by Water Blast.
- Move Befouling Ink to Sarukel.
- Move away from Sarukel when it casts Devouring Maw.
- Run to the side of the room without the blue indicator when Vellius casts Crashing wave.
DPS
- Kill Razorjaw Waverunners and Abyss Stalkers when spawned.
Heals
- Players fixated with Water Blast will need to be healed.
- Players with Befouling Ink will need to be healed.
- Use a healing cooldown if a tank triggers Burden of Pain.
- Dispel the Thundering Shock debuff.
Tanks
- When afflicted by Burden of Pain do not take damage from anything.
Sisters of the Moon
“The Sisters of the Moon served as wardens for the temple long before the avatar of Sargeras was buried beneath it. Even in death, the sisters maintained their vigil, but over the millennia something twisted their ability to distinguish friend from foe. Their madness slowly consumed them, and now any who enter their sacred chambers are put to death.”
Bloodlust/Heroism: Start of the encounter.
All Roles
- Move to the opposite side of the room to clear Umbra Suffusion or Lunar Suffusion.
- When targeted by Twilight Glaive (Blue Arrow) move to the edge of the room.
- When targeted by Moon Burn move to the opposite side of the room.
- Use personal survival cooldowns if targeted by Rapid Shot.
- Do not stand in Twilight Volley and Lunar Beacon.
- Do not get hit by Glaive Storm.
- (Heroic Difficulty) Target of Incorporeal Shot should stand behind a group to split the damage.
DPS
- Kill Moontalon as quickly as possible.
- Use personal DPS cooldowns to break Embrace of the Eclipse as quickly as possible.
Heals
- Use healing cooldowns if Embrace of the Eclipse is applied.
- Heal the tanks with Lunar Fire (Arcane debuff).
Tanks
- When targeted by Moon Glaive run to the melee group.
- Clear Discorporate by moving to the other side of the room.
- Off-tank should taunt Priestess Lunaspyre when Lunar Fire is applied to main tank.
The Desolate Host
“Once, this was a sacred burial site for the night elves, until the Legion corrupted these grounds with the Engine of Souls. This foul machine draws upon the energy of the dead, twisting them into abominations.These tormented spirits have become monstrosities, looking to feed on any who descend into the tomb’s depths.”

Bloodlust/Heroism: Start of the encounter.
All Roles
- Half of the raid should teleport to the spirit realm by clicking the braziers in the room.
- The other half of the raid will stay in the corporeal realm.
- The 2 players afflicted with Soulbind need to run to the same spot in their respective realms.
- If afflicted with Tormented Cries move to the same area as everyone else, then move out of the puddle it leaves behind.
- Do not stand in Collapsing Fissure or Soul Rot.
- Do not stand next to Grasping Darkness or Soul Residue.
- Players in the corporeal realm should move towards The Desolate Host during Sundering Doom. Players in the spirit realm should move away.
- Players in the spirit realm should move towards The Desolate Host during Doomed Sundering. Players in the corporeal realm should move away.
- During Wailing Souls all spirit realm players except one healer and one tank should go to the corporeal realm until the cast is complete.
DPS
- Always kill adds when spawned.
Heals
- Use healing cooldowns during Sundering Doom and Doomed Sundering.
- The spirit realm healer during Wailing Souls should use a personal survival cooldown on themselves while healing the tank.
Tanks
- Tank The Desolate Host and all adds in the same location in both realms.
- The spirit realm tank during Wailing Souls should use a tanking cooldown.
Maiden of Vigilance
“Charged by Aegwynn to defend the Tomb of Sargeras, the Maiden of Vigilance has stood watch for hundreds of years. Yet, the guardian did not foresee what effect the avatar’s seeping fel energy would have on this titan construct. Slowly warped by this maleficence, the maiden now seeks to destroy any in her path.”

Bloodlust/Heroism: Start of the encounter.
All Roles
- Players will be afflicted with either Fel Infusion (Green) or Light Infusion(Yellow).
- Players with Light Infusion must stand on the left side of Maiden of Vigilance.
- Players with Fel Infusion must stand on the right side of Maiden of Vigilance.
- Do not get hit by abilities with the opposing color as you.
- When afflicted with Unstable Soul jump into the hole in the middle of the room just before it explodes.
- Soak fragments with the same color as you.
DPS
- Use personal DPS cooldowns when Maiden of Vigilance casts Titanic Bullwark.
Heals
- Use a healing cooldown if an Unstable Soul detonates in the raid.
Tanks
- The tank with Fel Infusion needs to tank Maiden of Vigilance during Hammer of Obliteration.
- The tank with Light Infusion needs to tank Maiden of Vigilance during Hammer of Creation.
Fallen Avatar
“When Aegwynn defeated the Avatar of Sargeras, she was unable to destroy his avatar. In an effort to seal it away, the armor was entombed beneath the Temple of Elune, where it remained dormant for hundreds of years. Now, with the Legion tearing down the tomb’s barriers, Kil’jaeden is in a position to reanimate the armor and unleash its power on Azeroth.”
Notable Loot: Tier 20 Shoulders
Bloodlust/Heroism: Start of the encounter.
All Roles
- Stand in front of the purple Containment Pylon beam so that it does not reach Fallen Avatar.
- When afflicted by Unbound Chaos (Green debuff) keep running until it expires. Do not stand in the puddle it leaves behind.
- When targeted by Shadowy Blades run to the edge of the room to drop a puddle.
- Stand near players with Dark Mark to split the damage.
- When away from Fallen Avatar during Rupture Realities.
- (Heroic Difficulty) Split the raid into 3 groups to soak Touch of Sargeras fissure zones.
DPS
- Use DPS cooldowns on Maiden of Valor when she casts Cleansing Protocol.
- Attack Fallen Avatar unless Maiden of Valor is casting Cleansing Protocol.
Heals
- Use a healing cooldown during Rupture Realities.
- Heal the tanks with the Desolate debuff.
Tanks
- The off-tank should position the Maiden of Valor between Fallen Avatar and the green Containment Pylon beam.
- Tanks need to taunt swap when the main tank has two stacks of Desolate.
- The main tank should use a tanking cooldown on the second application of Desolate.
Kil’Jaeden
“Since striking the bargain that chased the Draenei into the stars, Kil’jaeden believed the Legion could not be stopped—yet, none of his deceptions have prevented you from reaching this critical moment. Infuriated that Sargeras’ promise of victory has never come to pass, the demon lord prepares to face you himself, for a final battle that will shape Azeroth’s destiny forever.”
Bloodlust/Heroism: Start of the encounter, and at the end.
All Roles
- Move close to the impact point of Rupturing Singularity.
- All players afflicted by Shadow Reflection should move to the same area of the room.
- Move away from everyone if afflicted by Bursting Dreadflame.
- Stand between Kil’Jaeden and players afflicted by Focused Dreadflame to split the damage.
- Stand in small Armageddon Rain swirls if no other player is doing so.
- Stand in large Armageddon Hail swirls if no other player is doing so and you have an immunity cooldown.
- If afflicted by Darkness of a Thousand Souls run to a Tear Rift until it is over.
- Do not get hit by Demonic Obelisks.
- Navigate through the room with Illidan’s Sightless Gaze buff to kill spawned enemies.
DPS
- Erupting Reflections should be killed when spawned.
- Shadowsouls should be killed when spawned.
Heals
- Cast extra healing when Armageddon Rain is being soaked.
- Tanks will need extra healing when afflicted by Felclaws.
- Use healing cooldowns when Cloaking Shadow is cast on the raid.
Tanks
- Soak Armageddon Hail swirls with a tanking cooldown.
- When Kil’Jaeden casts Felclaws the main tank should use a tanking cooldown.
- The off-tank should taunt Kil’Jaeden as soon as Felclaws expires.
