Prey has a number of different side questions that are optional. For instance, there’s the Talos Smuggling Ring quest which tasks players with finding six smuggler Dead Drop locations. By completing the side quest, gamers will successfully earn the trophy or achievement known as “Black Market”.
Furthermore, there is the added benefit of the resources and other loot you’ll come across by finding each of the six Dead Drop locations. Take a look at where to find each location down below.
Note: If you reach the main quest “Before I Give You The Key” the game allows players to free roam Talos I. This will allow the ability to go back and collect various items that you may have missed during your initial exploration.

Talos Smuggling Ring
To start things off players will need to activate the quest which can be done by collecting the transcribe that’s located by Lilly Morris’s corpse. Her body can be located within the Lobby hallway within Arboretum.
Dead Drop #1
- Located: The first Dead Drop is located on the third level of the Arboretum. You can find it on the wall near Lilly Morris’s corpse, the same location in which we collected the transcribe.
- Loot: 33 Gloo Consister, 1 Neuromod
Dead Drop #2
- Located: The second Dead Drop is within the Fitness Center found on the first level of the Crew Quarters. To gain access to the Fitness Center, check out the Gym Code -3575- within the reception area. Once you’re in the Fitness Center, the Dead Drop will be on the right side wall.
- Loot: 1 Neuromod, Exotic Material
Dead Drop #3
- Located: You’ll find the third Dead Drop within Talos I Lobby, level 1. More specifically, the Dead Drop will be on the wall facing the Neuromod display case.
- Loot: 2 Psi Hypo, 1 Neuromod
Dead Drop #4
- Located: Our fourth Dead Drop can be found within the same area, Talos I Lobby, level 1. Go to the hallway behind the Employee Orientation room, the same hallway with restrooms. The Dead Drop will be just above the seating area.
- Loot: 1 Neuromod, 2 Recycler Charge
Dead Drop #5
- Located: The fifth Dead Drop can be found within the level 1 Hardware Labs. Head towards the second level and you’ll spot the Dead Drop behind the large statue.
- Loot: 1 Neuromod
Dead Drop #6
- Located: Our last Dead Drop is within the Cargo Bay. Use the lift within the Shipping and Receiving area and enter the Cargo Shipment Control Center. You’ll find the Dead Drop located on the left side wall.
- Loot: Weapon Kit Fabrication Plan, 1 Neuromod, 1 EMP Charge
