When the trailer for the original Dead Island was released a couple of years back, it made some breaking waves because of its emotional content. It tugged at the heart strings and managed to make more than a few people cry.
The game itself may not have been anything at all like the trailer, but that didn’t stop the trailer from being what it was: pretty damn good.
The studio today released a new trailer for Dead Island Riptide that riffs on the original trailer, featuring a similar premise, replete with a sad piano piece. In the trailer, a couple share their last moments together as zombies converge upon them in a frenzy.

Dead Island Riptide is being developed as a standalone title set after the events of the first Dead Island and sees the four player characters travel by raft to a neighboring island. The game will offer a heightened focus on firearms over melee combat.
It’s set for release on the PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in early 2013.
