The developers at Lionhead Studios have long since been tied to the Fable franchise. As a matter of fact, the Fable titles were the only games they’ve made over the past decade, with the only other games not a part of the franchise being Black & White and its sequel.
After being attached to the Fable series for so long, Lionhead may be ready to finally move on. Speaking in an interview with Polygon, studio head Gary Carr says that the studio is working on a new project unrelated to Fable.
“We always have a few teams kicking around, and a few small teams who branch off and do other things,” he said. “You can’t just pour everybody onto one idea — that’s just not going to [help you] evolve as a studio. So there are a number of things I can’t talk about, as you would imagine. But we’re a team rolling off a finished title now, and we’re rolling onto something new and exciting which I can’t tell you about.”
The studio’s next game, which has been developed and is more or less ready to ship is Fable: The Journey. It comes out for the Xbox 360 on October 9th.
