If you’re a fan of point-and-click adventure games then you may want to keep tabs on Whispers of a Machine. The new title was recently unveiled as a collaborative effort between two indie development teams, Clifftop Games and Faravid Interactive.
Both teams have previously released their initial projects into the market. Faravid Interactive created The Samaritan Paradox which is a detective adventure game that followed Ord Salomon who uncovers a past investigation on a weapons industry and some covert affairs with foreign dictatorships. Clifftop Games released Kathy Rain, an old-school style point-and-click adventure game that followed a young woman named Kathy Rain who discovers the reason behind her late grandfather’s mysterious ailment. We even had the privilege to review Kathy Rain last year which we gave an outstanding score.
Their current project, Whispers of a Machine, follows Vera, a federal homicide detective. Set within the future, AI was once embedded in practically everything and even within human bodies. Society revolted against the AI singularity and as a result, the world faced a technological collapse.
Vera is sent to investigate a string of murders and soon finds herself pulled into a war that pins technology and religion against each other. Much like Kathy Rain and The Samaritan Paradox, Whispers of a Machine will be a point-and-click adventure, though Clifftop Games did state to us that Vera will apparently change depending on players actions. Choices will play an important role in the upcoming game and as such you can expect plenty of exciting story twists and multiple endings.
Currently, Whispers of a Machine is slated to launch within 2018 for the PC platform. For now, take a look at some of the current screenshots available for the game down below.
