Obsidian Entertainment's newly launched Project Eternity RPG has just met its funding goal of $1.1 million since going live yesterday. Described as a party-based RPG with old-school elements, the new game is the first ever independent intellectual property developed by the studio, which was responsible for numerous RPGs including Fallout: New Vegas, Knights of the Old Republic, and Dungeon Siege 3.
The makers of the new game have their roots in classic titles like Fallout, Planescape: Torment, Icewind Dale, and many others. The studio says that it aims to recapture the core dynamics of those old titles featuring a central hero, memorable companions, and epic exploration, all of which will be tied in with the emotional writing and mature thematic content of Planescape: Torment.
Like most of their previous games, Project Eternity will feature a real-time with pause tactical combat system and put players in control of a full party of characters.
