Studio Wildcard may have recently released a full-fledged expansion to Ark: Survival Evolved, but that certainly doesn’t stop them from continuously updating their sandbox survival game. In this game you build a base and attempt to cultivate the harsh and unforgiving land filled with dinosaurs and other creatures.
The key feature to v248 is the procedurally generated maps that you can create. If you wanted variety to your game, this is certainly one great way to make that happen. You have some degree of say in the matter, like specifying the height of the mountains, number of lakes/oceans, and the types of biomes you want. So it’s not left to complete random chance. But there’s more. New dinos have been added, to help make the population of your world more interesting. From the Kaprosuchus Paludentium, to the Chalicotherium Obsideoquus, and finally the Diplodocus Insulaprincep. If you wanted to wield your weapons while riding some of the small dinos, you can do that too. But if you’re afraid of your tamed dinos mating, you can neuter and spay them to curtail that. The new Explorer Note System adds the stories of inhabitants who lived on your island before you, and they grant a special XP buff for acquiring the knowledge of your predecesors.
Ark: Survival Evolved is available now in Early Access on PC and Xbox One. To learn more about the game, check out their website, Twitter, and Facebook.
