Rumors abound for months surrounding the next Nintendo system, codenamed the NX, were swarming around in a frenzy. Everything from the controller, to the price point, to the type of games that would be made for the system, were under questioning. Today Nintendo officially revealed the Nintendo NX, now named Nintendo Switch. Check out the three minute preview trailer and meet the new console for the first time.

The most distinct feature of the new console is the flexibility of being able to play on the go. The seamless transition from the TV to the controller is something that the Wii U attempted to do, but the Nintendo Switch is taking it a step further. It looks like you can split the controller into two halves, and play co-op games with your friends this way. But in addition to that, there’s also classic controller options similar to what the PS4 and Xbox One has. When it comes to the games for the system, we got a taste of the range available for the console. A new full 3D Mario game made an appearance, Splatoon shows up, Mario Kart too. We knew previously that the new Legend of Zelda game would have a place in the system. But the most interesting “out of left field” appearance was by Skyrim, with footage of that being seen in the video.

NVIDIA hardware is what makes it tick underneath. Here’s a blog post from the company about that.

Nintendo Switch is powered by the performance of the custom Tegra processor. The high-efficiency scalable processor includes an NVIDIA GPU based on the same architecture as the world’s top-performing GeForce gaming graphics cards. The Nintendo Switch’s gaming experience is also supported by fully custom software, including a revamped physics engine, new libraries, advanced game tools and libraries. NVIDIA additionally created new gaming APIs to fully harness this performance. The newest API, NVN, was built specifically to bring lightweight, fast gaming to the masses.

Nintendo Switch is coming March 2017.
