There’s been some exciting news releasing to the public in regards to the upcoming Gears of War installment, Gears of War 4. Today, not only did the development team The Coalition release the launch trailer for the video game, but thanks to PC Gamer, we’re getting word that PC gamers will have split-screen options.
During a preview event last week, Gears of War 4’s development team The Coalition revealed that the upcoming Gears of War 4 video game title will give PC gamers the ability to enjoy both competitive play along with cooperative campaign with local split-screen options. This option wasn’t originally planned for the release of the latest installment to the Gears of War franchise, but it was tacked on after the developers received feedback from fans.
In all actuality, The Coalition technical director, Mike Rayner, spoke with PC Gamer and admitted that adding local split-screen co-op on the PC platform is not simple by any means. Instead, adding the component feature into the gameplay takes quite a bit of extra work.
“From a development standpoint, it is quite difficult to support, we have to deal with multiple inputs, we have to deal with focus, we have to deal with UI placement. Developers have got to put some effort into it to do it right, it’s not just something you can tack on.”
