The entire debacle with 38 Studios has been quite tragic indeed. New events though make the situation look even more grim. It has been revealed that 38 studios has not received any new investments recently nor has it received any tax credits that have been filed for. When asked if 38 Studios would close the governor of Rhode Island said that he would do his best to keep that from happening.
Aside from the layoffs that occurred recently, people are voluntarily leaving the studio. CEO Jennifer Maclean changed her LinkedIn profile to show that she actually left 38 Studios in March. Senior Vice President John Blakely has also taken said title off of his LinkedIn profile which says that he left the company this month. Even more layoffs have been reported and health insurance is now down to nothing.
Despite 38 Studios gradually paying back Rhode Island, can they keep up and continue to bring in revenue? Will Project Copernicus even see the light of day? Only time will tell dear readers. Gameranx will keep you up to date with the latest on the 38 Studios situation.
