Banner Saga 2 released a new free game mode that gives the game a more battle focused experience. In Survival Mode, gamers have to fight their way through 40 combat levels consecutively.
You arrange a team of Banner Saga heroes to take into battle, but when they die they’re gone forever. Every time you win a match you gain more Renown to unlock more heroes, or buy items to help your team in combat. Although the game is a turn-based strategy title, you only have 30 seconds to make up your mind. The pressure is certainly on, and your performance can be measured on the leaderboards to see how well you did compared to other players.
“Survival Mode is something we’ve been working on behind the scenes for a while now,” said Stoic’s Technical Director John Watson. “This is an entirely new experience within Banner Saga 2. Our goal was to create a fun, tactical game mode where fans can play from a different perspective which focuses on strategy and the hard cost of death in combat. We modified how the combat worked from the core game based on feedback from our community and put it through a closed beta to make sure that it was fun.”
Banner Saga 2 along with this new free Survival Mode update are available now on PC and Mac. A console version of the game is set to release on July 26th of this year, and a mobile version arrives sometime this summer. See the game’s website, Twitter, and Facebook for the latest updates.
