Some new details for Assassin's Creed III have emerged but this time they're all about the Wii-U. As we all know, the Wii-U has a different type of controller than other consoles and Ubisoft is taking advantage of that. According to Nintendo Gamer magazine, the Wii-U will incorporate these functions for Assassin's Creed III:
- The tablet controller will act as a link to the Animus
- You can use the touchscreen on the Wii-U tablet as an alternate view for eagle vision
- The built in accelerometer for the Wii-U tablet gives you the ability to control the camera view while in Eagle vision
- Easy weapon selection during combat using the tablet's touchscreen.
- The Animus can act as an encyclopedia of information. This “encyclopedia” can be accessed through the Wii-U tablet's touchscreen
- Animus database entries that pop-up from time to time can also be viewed on the tablet's touchscreen
- Tablet can be turned into a “mini map” of sorts and used for navigation
This may seem like small stuff but we've never seen a controller like this used for consoles. It would be interesting if Ubisoft were to implement more uses for the Wii-U's tablet controller in AC III, like throwing things for example or maybe plotting a course since AC III is going to be bigger than previous Assassin's Creed games. You know what the real takeaway from this is? The Wii-U may be out BEFORE Assassin's Creed III. Then again, I could be wrong.
