The news that Epic Mickey 2 will be making its way to HD consoles is pretty damn exciting. It's exciting enough at least that rumours of a companion game being released on the 3DS have all but been forgotten. As it happens, those rumours have turned out to be true. It won't be a standard port of the game though, something that the 3DS could probably just about handle, but could potentially be a 2D platformer in the same vein as Mickey Mania/Mickey's Wild Adventure.
Revealed in the latest issue of Nintendo Power, Epic Mickey: Tales of Illusion for the 3DS will be developed by Dreamrift, the developers behind DS game Monster Tale, and that's about all the concrete information we have. I suppose once news has died down on the main game, more information will be released about the spin-off, but suffice to say it'll be nice to see Mickey in a decent 2D platformer again.
