Dragon’s Dogma Trailer Delves into Character Customization

March 21, 2012 by Josh Harmon

Everything is exactly what you’d expect from a solid action RPG, but no one bothered to tell the narrator that.

The past two Dragon's Dogma trailers have focused on the game's unique pawn system, but the latest clip from Capcom puts the spotlight squarely on the hero, showing the ways you'll be able to customize and develop your character to create an experience that matches your playstyle.

In spite of all the big talk in the trailer, Dragon's Dogma's approach appears to be pretty much be identical to every other action RPG released in the last 15 years. You'll be able to customize your appearance, choose a class, and equip different skills, weapons, and armor.

Of course, the fact that it's all been done before doesn't mean it won't be good, but it's still a bit silly to hear the narrator talk about skill trees and classes like they're some brilliant new invention for the genre.

Dragon's Dogma is out for the 360 and PlayStation 3 on May 22 in North America and May 25 in Europe.
