Rockstar has fixed the issue with ghost rabbits in Grand Theft Auto Online: A Safehouse in the Hills.

As we reported yesterday, several dataminers found out that the game was accidentally generating rabbits under the swimming pool in Vinewood Residency Mansion.
Because of the position that they were being placed, the virtual rabbits died as soon as they appeared. As a result, the game was discreetly building up a pile off dead virtual rabbits under the mansion.
Fans bemoaned the surprisingly terrifying scenario created by Rockstar’s mistaken programming. But thankfully, it has been fixed.
Rockstar Saves The Rabbits
Rockstar shared this note as part of Title Update 1.72:
Fixed an issue that resulted in animals falling through the terrain in Mansions and dying
The community has corroborated this fix. PLTytus shared this update:
Rabbits killing machine has been fixed. The yellow and cyan areas are areas with disabled spawns before the patch. Black and white are after the patch.
In total 15 locations was disabled, 14 at Vinewood, 1 at Tongva Hills.
Thanks @TexFunz2 for sharing changes in code.

Cruel Rabbit Horrors in #GTAOnline are OVER acc. to @PLTytus, so the rabbit void transforms back to a wonderful Vinewood Residency Mansion again!
… Thank you @RockstarGames for fixing this immediately, God bless your souls. Trauma phase finished, healing & processing can start…
Should Rockstar Bring The Rabbits Back?
As we speculated yesterday, these rabbits may have been cut content that was intended to be used in A Safehouse in the Hills. But it’s also possible that this is intended for a future update, but just happened to be implemented too early.
The way Rockstar implemented pets in the mansions doesn’t really feel complete. You can only get one dog and one cat, and if you buy all three mansions, both pets illogically appear in all of these mansions.
Rockstar can definitely continue to update Grand Theft Auto Online to make pets work in a way that’s logical. And maybe you shouldn’t just be able to buy rabbits, but be able to buy multiple dogs and cats as well.
And maybe having some show fish on your mansion’s interiors could be a nice decorative touch as well. But we’ll see if Rockstar deigns to make these improvements for Grand Theft Auto Online in the buildup to Grand Theft Auto 6 – or holds off so that they can add it to that game’s version of Grand Theft Auto Online.
