After he departed from Konami, Hideo Kojima fans were wondering what he would venture out to do next. Fortunately, rather than retiring and living comfortably outside the games industry, he opted to chart his own path within it. The famed developer founded Kojima Productions, where he has so far released two games in his Death Stranding franchise. However, there are other projects in the works, such as Physint.
With Konami, arguably his biggest achievement in the games industry is the Metal Gear series. The franchise thrived for decades with Hideo Kojima as the director behind most of the games. It was an action espionage-style game. However, after leaving in 2015, Hideo recently decided he was ready to step back into the genre.
Hideo Kojima Talks Physint
Hideo Kojima’s studio, Kojima Productions, has a few projects in the works. It was back in 2024 that PlayStation revealed it was partnering with Kojima Productions on a new game of his called Physint. Best of all, for fans of his Metal Gear franchise, this would mark his return to the stealth espionage-style gameplay. However, we’re still waiting to learn more about it.
Thanks to VGC, we’re learning that Kojima spoke with the Japanese publication Anaweb. During the conversation, Kojima joked that he could make this kind of game in his sleep. It’s about a soldier who infiltrates a place and has to take out the enemies by sneaking around. This is something Kojima has fun making and should hopefully deliver in a big way for fans who have been missing his Metal Gear games. Of course, Kojima did go on to note that he is working on new gimmicks for this title that might make it feel a little fresher for players.
Of course, he’s also working on another game called OD. That’s a title that should be very different from Physint, as Hideo noted, it’s a completely new type of gameplay experience. Then, we also learned not too long ago that there was a concept for Death Stranding 3. So, just when exactly we’ll see any of these games released into the market is anyone’s guess.
