Capcom is calling their Resident Evil 0 HD Remaster a success by telling VideoGamer that the title performed favorably. The units marked were only for the beginning of this year with the cutoff date being March 31, 2016. With this particular video game also being a Capcom success, perhaps we’ll see Capcom announce new HD remastered titles from their previously released video game catalog.
Resident Evil 0 HD was first released into the market on November 12, 2002, for the Nintendo GameCube. The game was set as a prequel to the first Resident Evil video game title, featuring S.T.A.R.S. officer Rebecca Chambers and convicted criminal Billy Coen.
Years later, Capcom decided to go back and bring out a high-definition remaster for the video game which released earlier this year, January 2016. We’re now getting word as to just how well the video game did in sales so far this year.
According to the Capcom Investor Relations report, the game has sold over 800,000 units from its launch in January and through the cutoff date of March 31, 2016. The report is also just showing the number figures for digital sales and does not factor in the sales from Capcom’s Resident Evil Origins Collection, which was a physical bundle that came with Resident Evil 0 HD.
We’re interested in seeing if the development team has any interest in going back and creating other HD remastered editions of their previously released video game. With Resident Evil and Resident Evil 0 remasters being labeled as a success, its likely Capcom will stick with this HD remaster trend.
