Warning: Don’t Buy The PlayStation VR2 Until March

February 27, 2025 by Dennis Patrick

Here’s why!

VR is still supported today with new headsets and fantastic video games. If you own a PlayStation 5, you might have considered picking up the PlayStation VR2. But if you haven’t already done so, there’s a good reason you need to hold out for a little while longer. Starting in March, Sony will give you a new enticing reason to pick this VR headset up.

The folks over at Sony has taken to the official PlayStation Blog and confirmed that they are slashing the price of the PlayStation VR2. That’s not a special sale discount either. This is going to be a permanent price cut for the headset so you will find this a bit cheaper going forward in just a couple days.

Going forward in March, the PlayStation VR2 will cost consumers $399.99. That might be a more comfortable price point for your official jump on the VR headset. Of course, this is the recommended retail price or RRP. So, depending on your local retailers, you could still see some of the current pricing of these VR headsets. You’ll just have to check around to see which retailer opted to lower the headset price unless you opt to purchase the headset directly from Sony.

In the blog post, Sony highlighted what you can expect from the $399.99 PS VR2. This standard bundle will include the headset, the PS VR2 Sense controller, and stereo headphones.

However, we suggest looking into the PlayStation VR2 Horizon Call of the Mountain Bundle. It will cost exactly the same as the standard bundle, but you’ll get the added benefit of a digital voucher code for Horizon Call of the Mountain. So, right out of the gate, you’ll have a new game to enjoy.

You’ll also find that a recent update supports low-latency hand tracking. Developers are allowing players to use their hands to control aspects of the game, which should make it a little more immersive. But if you’re looking for a little more insight on the headset, then we do have a Before You Buy coverage you can view in the video embedded below.
