Silent Hill 2 is nearing its release. We’ve waited what felt like eons for Konami to pick this franchise back up significantly. After disbanding Team Silent, Western developers were given access to develop new Silent Hill games. Those titles, for the most part, were less than stellar. As a result, the franchise was mainly dormant. But that had recently changed.
It wasn’t long ago that Konami unveiled that the franchise would make a grand return. One of the biggest releases set to come out for the franchise was Silent Hill 2, a remake of the classic and most cherished installment. While Konami wasn’t working on this game in-house, they did get a studio known for delivering horrifying experiences. Bloober Team has been working on this project, and it’s just about ready to hit the marketplace. Fortunately, Akira Yamaoka also lent a hand in this remake.
Akira Yamaoka is a composer attached to the Silent Hill franchise for various installment releases. They were also the composer behind Silent Hill 2 when it initially launched. We know that they have come back to provide the music of Silent Hill 2’s remake, and we’re getting a sneak peek of the various tracks right now.
A new YouTube video from the official Silent Hill YouTube channel is nearly an hour long and features preview tracks of Silent Hill 2’s remake. This is connected to a 3-CD set release, though the current pre-order is only available in Japan. Still, we can preview the tracks recorded again, along with new arrangements and songs.
Again, we’re nearing Silent Hill 2’s release date. The game is set to launch on October 8, 2024. When the title is released, it will be available for the PlayStation 5 and PC platforms. However, it’s since been noted that the PlayStation 5 has a timed exclusive deal for one year. Afterwards, we can likely expect a release for Xbox Series X/S consoles.
