Microsoft has officially shut down the developement of Redfall, as well as its studio Arkane Austin. This comes as a part cuts from Bethesda according to IGN. But this is not the only game the company has almost random decided to shut down, but also the developers of Hi-Fi Rush which is developed by Tango Gameworks, and also Alpha Dog Studios which made the Mighty Doom mobile game.
IGN asked for Microsoft to give some commen to what is going on and why these choices were made. In a email that was sent to the staff by the head of Xbox Game Studios – Matt Booty, it was said that the cuts were made due to “reprioritization of titles and resources.” The email then mentioned the end of Redfall, which is sad considering how much pretrial the game had.
“Redfall’s previous update will be its last as we end all development on the game,” Booty said. “The game and its servers will remain online for players to enjoy and we will provide make-good offers to players who purchased the Hero DLC.”
It is so sad to see the direction that the video game industry is going, not only only the law offs but how many games are now constantly being canceled. It is getting to a point where it just causes certains to wonder just how bad all of this will get before it gets better.
Sadly for Redfall, not enough people loved it except for a few, especially those who have attachment from playing it with a close friend and exploring the worlds together taking down vampire bosses.
