Before the big trailer drop this month, fans flooded the web for insight into what Grand Theft Auto VI would entail. This was one of the biggest and most anticipated video games in quite some time. Since 2013, franchise fans have been stuck in Los Santos, and it will be over a decade before we get to step into the next game. Fortunately, this month, we saw the first official trailer for Grand Theft Auto VI and, with it, the confirmation of the return to Vice City. But before this announcement, all kinds of supposed leaks surfaced online. Today, we’re finding out that one of them seems to be accurate.
The leak that surfaced online is a couple of months old now, and we’re finding out how accurate it is through another Reddit post. Apparently, the leak that the account posted has since been deleted and does follow some of the information from the trailer. Again, this information came a few months before the trailer’s release. It unveiled that Lucia had a child, which she abandoned before doing a heist. However, she ends up getting caught and going to jail, where a few years later, she’s released on probation.
This leaked post also mentions that the first mission is based around Jason, who connects with a drug dealer from Russia. You’ll apparently start the game off by racing after a plane where drugs fall into the ocean, where you’ll need to dive in and recover them. It’s also mentioned that there is a new mechanic that is centered around a detection system to locate valuable items and dangerous threats. Meanwhile, most of your mission planning will take place in a nightclub called Vault.
Of course, comments were skeptical; some called it an obvious fake. But now that the first trailer has been released, which does confirm some of the leaks mentioned in this post, it could be that this all becomes true. Unfortunately, the account has since been deleted, so we’ll have to wait and see if any additional information manages to surface online. But at the very least, this could be a more credible post about what we can see when the game drops.
Right now, we only have one trailer for Grand Theft Auto VI. We know that the game is slated to release on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S platforms when it launches sometime in 2025. With that said, be careful of the slew of online scams advertising alpha builds and preorders for the game on the PC platform.
