The cycle continues! Fire Emblem Engage has been alternating between talking about the various units you’ll have in your party within the title and the Emblem Rings you’ll be wearing to boost your power. Those rings contain the spirits of heroes from the franchise’s past. Each spirit has unique abilities that can greatly affect how the battle turns out, so learning about each one is vital for the future. Roy from Fire Emblem: The Binding Blade is the latest hero to get the breakdown treatment. The title is one of the few games in the series that hasn’t left Japan, but Roy has become an icon of the series despite that.
Like the other Emblem Ring characters, he has multiple abilities to help you in battle. The first one is his “Sync Skill,” which is called “Endure.” So if you’re in battle, and the character wielding the ring is above 30% health before getting dealt a death blow, they’ll survive the battle with 1 HP left. That will come in handy when dealing with opponents that may have a serious advantage over you or get a lucky critical hit.
Then, through the weapon you can get through him, you’ll earn the “Lancereaver” skill. The ability allows the sword you’ll wield to break lances with ease. It’s the reverse of the weapons triangle and could easily come in handy during fights.
The third skill that Roy has is “Transcendence.” Your character will gain stat boosts through that skill as though they had just grown many levels! It’s a short-term boost, but it could help turn the tide against a tough opponent.
His ultimate attack is “Lion’s Crimson Flame Dance.” The attack will unleash a powerful strike on the three horizontal squares next to you. It’ll also damage the terrain with fire to make it harder for the enemies to get off of. But, if you put the ring on someone like Alear, AKA a dragon, you’ll be able to damage two rows of horizon squares!
So as you can see, Roy will be a powerful Emblem Ring to have at your side in Fire Emblem Engage. He can help you survive death blows, take on foes you have weaknesses to, and damage multiple enemies once his special attack is charged up!
A small trailer featuring Roy was also released; you can watch it below. You’ll see scenes of him in action and ones with him talking to other characters.
