Fire Emblem Engage has been alternating recently between breaking down the characters in the game you’ll play as and the Emblem Ring spirits that you’ll wield. Today, we got the latter, and another fan-favorite character got the spotlight via Lyn. For many, Lyn was one of the first characters in the series that we met and adored. Yes, Marth was the original Lord, but the franchise was mainly popular in Japan. However, the game Lyn was in, Blazing Sword, was won the Game Boy Advance and was seen as one of the “first” games in the series to make an impact in the West.
Lyn was a swordswoman from the plains who happily lived as a nomad and enjoyed her connection with nature. She took no crap from people, especially Hector, but was a kind-hearted soul. She also turned out to be royalty! So there was that. In the new game, she’s the “Emblem of Blazing” and wields a bow that’ll help you in many ways via her skills.
The first skill she has is “Desperation.” If you have a much higher speed stat than the foe you’re attacking, you’ll be able to make two attacks back-to-back before your opponent strikes you. That could help you in fights where you know you can win, but only if you make your attacks first.
Continuing on, her other skill, “Killer Bow,” will allow you to land critical hits more frequently. Those blasts can do three times the typical weapon damage, which could quickly turn the tide of a battle if you hit them frequently.
That’s not all, though. Lyn has a tactical skill known as “Call Doubles.” She’ll be able to summon fakes to surround her and confuse enemies. While doing this, she’ll always hit a chain attack on foes.
Her ultimate take is “Astra Storm,” and it’s brutal. It can launch five arrow strikes on an enemy even though they’re not close to Lyn. What’s more, if you have her ring on a “covert” type like a thief, the range the arrows can reach grows even more!
You’ll be able to witness these abilities in action in the video below. Plus, like others in Fire Emblem Engage, you’ll be able to talk to Lyn via support conversations. One can only wonder what she’ll have to say within the game. You’ll find out when the title releases on Nintendo Switch on January 20th!
