God of War Ragnarok Will Have “At Least” 10 Boss Fights

November 7, 2022 by Todd Black

Hopefully many of them are gods.

God of War Ragnarok is two days away from release. Are you excited? Most people are, and they’re eager to get back into the skin of the death-dealing Kratos and to watch over the “boy” once again. Santa Monica Studio has promised that the second game in the “reboot” story will end the Norse saga that Kratos and Atreus find themselves in, which is both good and bad for gamers. It’s good because the title is incredible based on the reviews that have come out. The bad news is that this means the story is over unless they bring the two into yet another region of gods.

Speaking of which, many people have noted that in the first game on the PS4, not many gods were killed by Kratos. Many of the bosses you faced were lesser Norse entities or the Valkyries. However, with Ragnarok looming, the gods won’t be as lucky this time. Or at least, that’s the hope. An industry insider noted on Twitter that God of War Ragnarok would have “at least” ten boss fights within it:

There are at least 10 Boss battles in Ragnarok, it seems. 👀

Whether that’s a good or bad amount will be up to you. We don’t know who Kratos will face in those fights, although we can predict two based on the plot and trailers. We’ve known since day one of the game that Thor would finally debut in the franchise. This version of the god is more akin to his Norse roots and not his Marvel counterpart. He will wield Mjolnir, and Kratos will have a tough time against the God of Thunder and his mighty hammer.

We also know that Odin will be in the game and likely will be the final boss. We hear his voice in multiple trailers trying to warn Kratos about his path and the war he’s likely to start, asking him to think about Atreus and not to make certain decisions that’ll change everything.

Another person you’ll need to look out for in the game is Freyja. If you recall, in the PS4 game, she blessed her son Baldur with the inability to be harmed. Yet that drove him mad, and he begged Kratos to kill him, which he obliged at the end of the title. Unfortunately, Freyja swore revenge on Kratos, so she’ll have to be put down if her revenge can’t be satiated.

The saga will end in bloodshed. There’s no doubt of that. But how much godly blood will be spilled remains to be seen.
