NBA 2K17: Why It’s Time For All-Star Weekends To Come Back

February 15, 2016 by Stephen Daly

All-Star modes would make a welcome return to the series this year.

With the NBA All-Star Weekend now behind us, some fans of the NBA 2K series are already looking forward to the future of the series, NBA 2K17.

The last several 2K games have lacked All-Star Weekend events as a unique mode or event. While there has been MyCareer mode, players haven’t been able to play an All-Star Weekend event whenever they wanted to.

This would be a great time to do it, given that this is Kobe Bryant’s last year in the All-Star Team. Built-in, custom set rosters for this year’s All-Star teams would be a widely welcomed feature by fans, especially if they had the option to try out a three-point shootout dunk content with any player they wanted at any time.

The modern technology available on new consoles should allow for a much-improved version of this option, last seen in 2K13.

Other All-Star requests include a skills challenge, All-Star and Rising Star teams, the US team, and celebrities.

You can watch STG’s video about the possibilities for All-Star events in NBA 2K17 at the top of this post. Obviously, the game hasn’t even been announced yet but it will likely be available for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and mobile platforms. NBA 2K16 was released on PS3 and Xbox 360 as well but 2K Sports may feel it’s time to move the series forward.

Letting 2K know what modes and features you want early will give them more time to act on fan requests, though as ever, there’s no guarantee that they will. Even if they don’t this time round, the features STG is asking for may well make it into a future game.
