There’s still over a month to go before players will be able to return to FromSoftware’s haunted land of Lothric in Dark Souls 3 but publisher Bandai Namco has released the game’s opening cinematic to give you a taste of what to expect when you do get your hands on the game.
The teaser video offers some hints regarding the mysterious environments and challenging enemies players can expect to encounter. Among the game’s enemies, you’ll come across are Yhorm the Giant, Aldrich Saint of the Deep, and Farron’s Undead Legion. Players will be given greater freedom in Dark Souls 3 than in previous titles in the series, as well as connected games such as Demon’s Souls and Bloodborne, to explore the game world.
I got the opportunity to play the game at a press event a few months ago and you can check out my impressions of it here. While a number of changes have been made and there are new enemies to overcome and areas to discover, some features, such as Bloodborne’s quick stepping, have been adapted for the game.
Earlier today we reported on newly leaked screenshots from the game, which appear to show the first boss fight. For more on the game, check out the recent gameplay trailer, these official screenshots of the starting area, and keep an eye on our Dark Souls 3 tab. An additional gameplay trailer and details relating to the game’s Collectors’ Edition were released in December.
Dark Souls 3 launches on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows PC on March 24th.
