Boyd Holbrook is set to star alongside the legendary Harrison Ford in the upcoming Indiana Jones 5, and the bludgeoning actor has commented about how Ford doesn’t look to be slowing down any time soon either. Indiana Jones is probably Ford’s most recognizable character in his illustrious career (sorry Star Wars fans), first appearing as the all-action archaeologist back in 1981 with Raiders of the Lost Ark before reprising the role three more times.
The fourth entry, Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull was released 14 years ago to a mixed reception, so we all wondered what the point of a fifth would be, or even if Ford could manage it still. However, that wasn’t the case because it was confirmed back in 2016 that another film would be developed. There were also rumors about potentially replacing Harrison Ford with a younger model, but the actor recently said “I’m Indiana Jones. When I’m gone, he’s gone,” and he couldn’t be more right.
The development problems that have hit this film have become well-known, it was due for release back in 2019. The film sees Ford – a man who is now fresh into his 80s – teaming up with Logan director James Mangold for the latest installment, while the original director (Steven Spielberg) has taken on the role of executive producer. A man who knows Mangold very well is actor Boyd Holbrook, who appeared as one of the main antagonists in Logan, and has been cast in a so far unknown role for this film.
Holbrook has been talking about what it’s like being part of the Indiana Jones franchise and working with Ford. The actor reassures fans that Ford is more than capable of wearing the famous fedora and leather jacket once again, saying “Harrison Ford is ripping and roaring. Age ain’t nothing but a number to this man.”
The plot is still shrouded in mystery though, and with Ford’s age being brought up in the previous film, it is unknown how this will play out again with this film. However, there were some recent set photos released online that showed Ford wearing motion tracking dots on his face, so this could possibly mean some form of de-aging tool. Technology or not though, Ford is sure to give the fans what they want and prove to everyone else that he can still handle the fast-paced life of Indiana Jones.
