Red Hook Studios has announced that Darkest Dungeon is coming to PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita early next year. The game will also be playable at next month’s PlayStation Experience. The title is currently in Early Access on Steam and will officially launch on January 19.
The game is a side-scrolling dungeon crawler set in a dark fantasy world. The player guides up to four characters of various classes through perilous environments, fighting a slew of sickly enemies while searching for loot. Darkest Dungeon’s unique take on the action-RPG is a psychological angle: the more pressure certain characters are under, the more likely they are to crack. Without rotating them in and out of scavenging parties and letting them relax during breaks, characters could go insane.
Red Hook recently added a new dungeon area called The Cove, and also made unpopular features like heart attacks and corpses optional. The game has been progressing steadily through its Early Access phase.
You can grab Darkest Dungeon on PC now for a lower, Early Access price, or you could wait until the game releases for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita in Spring 2016.
