Retro FPS Project Warlock II Now In Early Access

June 10, 2022 by Alexandra Nicholson

Cue the carnage.

Showcased earlier today as part of the IGN Summer Of Gaming Expo, the blast-from-the-past retro first-person shooter game Project Warlock II is now available in Early Access. Sequel to the 2018 indie hit Project Warlock, the Early Access version of Project Warlock II includes the entire first single-player chapter and is ready for players to dive into now over on the Epic Games Store, Steam, and GOG.

Project Warlock II takes inspiration from classic gory titles such as Doom 64 and thrusts players into a chaotic castle that’s being invaded by a demonic presence. Cue lots of carnage as players can choose from a range of weaponry with which to obliterate their attackers. In addition, the game’s Early Access chapter consists of six sprawling levels up to 10 times bigger than any individual level in the original game, so there’s plenty of action to be found in the first part of the campaign.

You can check out the game’s launch and gameplay trailer below to get an idea of the grisly pixelated fun that’s coming in Early Access.

The full adventure will feature three distinct ‘warlock’ characters for players to get to know whilst exploring the game’s story, which picks up after the events of the original Project Warlock game. To begin with, though, players will only have access to Palmer, with fellow warlocks Urd and Kirsten being introduced into the game over the next few months.

The sequel is planned to be in Early Access for a year, during which time developers Buckshot Software will be gathering feedback and working on the remaining two chapters of the game prior to its full release.

Project Warlock II is available now in Early Access for PC via Steam, the Epic Games Store and on GOG.
