Bungie has stepped up to clarify concerns of new microtransactions will be added to Destiny.
The main concern comes from these items found from datamining; Indomitable Light, Valorious Light, Subclass Infusion, Titan Level 25 Starter Pack, Heuristic Light, and Campaign Medals. Most of these items offer or hint at performance buffs.
A now deleted post on the Bungie forums (text retrieved and can be read here), a fan put forward the convincing argument that these items must have been planned to offer significant buffs, and asserted without evidence that Bungie would be charging heavily for these microtransactions.
So, Bungie has gone on record that they have no plans to sell consumables to increase drop rates for Silver, the newly added real money currency. Bungie’s explanation does not rule out the possibility that these items can be acquired in regular play, or that they are coming at all.
It also doesn’t explain what Bungie’s game plan is regarding level boosters, but perhaps we will be finding out soon enough.
How would you feel if Bungie did start charging for these or other items? Share your thoughts with us in the comments.
