A new trailer for Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer was released today on the Nintendo3DSuk YouTube channel that shows off many of the options available to players in the Animal Crossing spinoff title.
The trailer shows off what we’ve known will be the main form of gameplay in Happy Home Designer, which is working for Nook’s Homes as an interior and exterior designer. Players will build and customize the homes for all of the villagers in their town.
The flexibility in how both the exterior and interior of a home in an Animal Crossing game will look is something that has not been offered in previous Animal Crossing games. Traditionally, in Animal Crossing, players have the ability to customize the interior design of their own home (and no one else’s) by placing furniture, carpeting, and wallpaper in each room of the house.
Also new to this Animal Crossing game is the option to set your characters skin tone from a selection of eight different tones. Previously, the only way in which to darken your character’s skin tone was to stand in the sun on an offshore tropical island.
Nintendo is also releasing another Animal Crossing game called Animal Crossing: Amiibo Festival, exclusively for Wii U for free sometime this year. Another spinoff title for the Animal Crossing series, Amiibo Festival is a party game in the vein of Mario Party with a virtual board that players will play on. Both Amiibo Festival and Happy Home Designer will support the Animal Crossing amiibo cards, but Amiibo Festival, as the name suggests, requires the use of Animal Crossing amiibo (cards or figures). Let’s hope Nintendo doesn’t drop the ball.
Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer is now available for Nintendo 3DS in Japan and will be released in North America on Sept. 25 and in Europe on Oct. 2.
