Tekken is one of the most beloved fighting game franchises out there. Mainly because the series mostly focuses on hard-hitting martial arts styles versus lots of flashy moves and long-ranged attacks. But underneath that fighting game exterior is a very deep story of darkness and family, and it has been showcased in many ways over the years. But now, Netflix is getting in on the game (literally) by making an anime to further tell its story via Tekken Bloodline.
Tekken Bloodline will start with the very roots of the series, for as the newly released teaser trailer shows, we see a young Jin Kazama training his mother before she meets the monster Ogre, and is thus sent on a journey to meet and train with his grandfather.
As you can tell in the trailer, they’re going to be following the first game’s story for the most part, though there are some teases of characters that weren’t in that first game being present. It also will be interesting to see whether this anime follows the trend of more recent Netflix anime’s in regards to their lack of quality in terms of fight scenes. As that would be a very bad thing in a game that’s focused around fighting. Check out the teaser trailer below:
Here’s the synopsis for the series:
“Power is everything.” Jin Kazama learned the family self-defense arts, Kazama-Style Traditional Martial Arts, from his mother at an early age. Even so, he was powerless when a monstrous evil suddenly appeared, destroying everything dear to him, changing his life forever. Angry at himself for being unable to stop it, Jin vowed revenge and sought absolute power to exact it. His quest will lead to the ultimate battle on a global stage — The King of Iron Fist Tournament.”
The series is set to arrive sometime in 2022.
