It’s clear to see that Elden Ring is becoming an unstoppable force within the gaming world. According to the latest GSD data, Elden Ring is storming the market across the whole of Europe. The newest and most talked-about FromSoftware game is dominating sales across Europe, where it’s sitting comfortably at number 1 in most major European countries. The only exception to this is in Germany, where February was a top-selling month for Pokemon Legends: Arceus.
In the latest GSD data, as reported by gamesindustry.biz, Elden Ring is also now considered to be the biggest and best-selling new game IP since The Division, Ubisoft’s 2016 action role-playing game.
Not only that, but Elden Ring has also proved to be an overwhelming launch success story, surpassing last year’s Call Of Duty: Vanguard to become the biggest ever game launch. Considering the game launched in the same month as such huge titles as Horizon: Forbidden West and Dying Light 2: Stay Human, the figures are pretty impressive.
The data from GSD also examines sales on different platforms, showing that 44% of total Elden Ring sales were on PC. After that came 27% of sales for PS5, 16% of sales for Xbox and then 13% for the PS4.
Looking at an overall picture of the European gaming market reveals huge figures. 13.56 million games were sold in total across Europe in February 2022, an 8% increase from last year’s figure. When you look at the titles that were released last month, that’s hardly surprising. However Elden Ring has surpassed a lot of people’s expectations in terms of sales data, so we should only expect the game community’s already phenomenal following its amassing to continue to grow.
