The physical release date for Rockstar’s GTA Trilogy on Nintendo Switch has finally been announced again. The game was originally supposed to come out physically on the Nintendo Switch on December 7. That was canceled after the digital-only release of the collection on all platforms was roundly panned. While the Xbox and PlayStation physical editions were only delayed by 10 days, the Switch version just received an “early 2022” timeframe. Now, Nintendo has announced that the physical Switch version will hit shelves on February 11.
The Nintendo Switch version of GTA Trilogy was the worst-performing of the consoles. The game was criticized for its bad design, poor graphics, and performance on every system. However, the Switch was plagued with a plethora of performance issues over the other consoles. On the Switch, it was criticized for having a bad frame rate, blurry graphics, and incredibly slow load times. Although players have still been able to purchase the game on Switch digitally, many reviews strongly recommended against doing so.
Rockstar promised that it would be updating the GTA Trilogy on all platforms to improve the mountain of issues that players were complaining about. There have been multiple updates to the games since that announcement and attempts by Rockstar to appease angry gamers. Although not everything has been improved, Rockstar did fix some of the biggest complaints that were circling on social media, along with bug fixes. Hopefully, by the time the Nintendo Switch version receives a physical release, the company will have been able to fix the terrible performance on the console.
GTA Trilogy will be released physically for the Nintendo Switch on February 11. The game is currently available physically and digitally on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. The game is already available digitally on Nintendo Switch.
