A new poster seems to have confirmed that Dark Souls 3 is definitely on the way, and that it’s coming early 2016.
This info comes courtesy of a newly leaked poster. Thus far, From Software have remained tight lipped about the game, not even confirming it. This leak does follow an earlier rumor that the game is in development and will be revealed at this year’s E3.
If true, it may be a sign that From Software will start annualizing Dark Souls. Of course, Dark Souls 2 was actually originally released in 2014. However, From continued to work on the game, and released an expanded version, called Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin, in 2015.
From also released PlayStation 4 exclusive Bloodborne in 2015, and we recently learned that they are working on a Monster Hunter title with Capcom for 3DS. However, these will not stop From Software from annualizing Dark Souls if they want to. From was acquired by Kadokawa Games precisely to expand their capabilities in making games, in making games for more platforms, and to reach a more global market.
Of course, this may not necessarily be the case. If we must compare, Capcom released Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate and Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate, but have held off announcing Monster Hunter 5, in lieu of four upcoming spinoff games. From could go this route, or releasing Dark Souls 3 this early may merely be a happy consequence of their recent acquisition speeding up how they do business.
