Death Stranding Director’s Cut Coming to PC This Spring

January 4, 2022 by Carley Garcia

This leak is a trustworthy one.

In early October 2021, rumors began spreading that Death Stranding Director’s Cut wouldn’t remain a PlayStation 5 exclusive, and might actually be coming to PC sometime in the future. One Reddit user had noticed random updates being added to the original PC version of Death Stranding, despite the game not having been updated at all since its release on Windows in July 2020. The now-notorious Nvidia leak also mentioned Director’s Cut, lending more credence to the possibility.

This week, hardware website Videocardz.com acquired an early copy of a CES 2022 press release from Intel discussing the brand’s Xe Super Sampling graphics technology. In this release, the president of 505 Games, Neil Rally, makes an interesting statement about the integration of the new tech into Director’s Cut.

“We’re delighted to announce our partnership with Intel for the Death Stranding Director’s Cut edition on PC. Death Stranding has been a hugely popular game with PC players and we’re excited to see how Intel’s new XeSS technology will enhance player experience for Director’s Cut,” Rally writes.

Today, January 4, 505 Games officially announced that the game will be coming to Steam and the Epic Games Store in Spring 2022.

The original game sold very well when released on Steam, so porting the Director’s Cut already seems like a no-brainer from a monetary perspective. The enhanced title adds new graphics options, new combat abilities, more equipable items, a firing range, a stylish new vehicle, a race track, new buildable structures, and additional cosmetics and backpack customizations. Players can also replay Cliff memories and boss battles.

Death Stranding Director’s Cut was released on September 24, 2021, for the PlayStation 5. The original title was released for PlayStation 4 in November 2019 and for PC in July 2020. Yesterday, director Hideo Kojima began teasing a “radical” new project for 2022. Last year, Kojima Productions opened a new business division in Los Angeles focusing on television and film.
