Chibi-Robo!: Zip Lash Coming October 2015 to 3DS

June 1, 2015 by Michael Fossbakk

Bundle-exclusive amiibo to also be released.

Chibi-Robo!: Zip Lash, a sequel to 2006’s Chibi-Robo! (2005 in Japan) and fifth game in the series, will be coming to the Nintendo 3DS in October 2015, Nintendo announced in a Nintendo Direct Monday.

Whereas the original Chibi-Robo! on the Nintendo Gamecube was a three-dimensional platformer, taking place in a home, Zip Lash will be a two-dimensional sidescroller, taking place primarily outdoors.

The primary function of the adventuring miniature robot is his power plug, which can be used in a variety of ways to take down enemies and grapple onto ledges for traversal. The plug can also be charged up for a more powerful attack or you can collect “boost balls” to increase the range of the plug’s swing.

In addition to the game itself, Nintendo will be releasing a Chibi-Robo! amiibo that will be exclusive to the Chibi-Robo!: Zip Lash bundle, which includes the game and the amiibo figure. Upon using the amiibo figure, the Chibi-Robo! in-game character will transform into Super Chibi-Robo! with enhanced speed and distance at which his plug can be thrown. Every time a stage is completed with Super Chibi-Robo!, his level will increase and be saved on the amiibo figure. Based on the level of your amiibo, you can unlock in-game items.

Nintendo made other announcements, including a new Dr. Mario game and more, which you can see in the Nintendo Direct “Micro” video below.
