Star Wars Battlefront 3 Details; Fly X-Wings In The Air, Over 8 Maps At Launch, And More

April 19, 2015 by Ryan Parreno

There won’t be space battles but that doesn’t mean you can’t reach out to the skies.

DICE has continued to share details on Star Wars Battlefront 3 since its unveiling at Celebration. Its design director, Niklas Fegraeus, held a mini Q&A on Twitter to address some immediate questions.

For brevity’s sake, we’ll pass over details we have already previously covered.

Fegraeus explains Star Wars Battlefront 3 will be on four planets, and many maps between them. Map sizes will vary to match different modes and what fans like. Fegraeus denied rumors and said that at launch, there will be more than two maps per planet, and more than eight maps overall.

While there are no space battles, you will be able to pilot vehicles such as AT-STs, X-Wings, and TIE Fighters. They won’t be flying low either, as you will be able to take to the skies and even have dogfights with entire squadrons.

To address one specific concern, Star Wars Battlefront 3 focuses on the original trilogy. This seems to be the safest bet as well.

The shield is a Battlefront powerup, and Fegraeus promises more like it in the future.

The game has eschewed classic character customization in favor of customizing playstyle. There is definitely a progression system to unlock and collect items and earn achievements. The section below deals with spoilers surrounding Heroes.

Heroes refers specifically to famous characters within the Stat Wars Universe who will be appearing in the game. DICE has only confimed Darth Vade and Boba Fett but there will be more. Unlocking them is dependent on specific game modes.

Star Wars Battlefront 3 will be releasing on November 17 on Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
