BioWare has released a new behind-the-scenes look at Dragon Age: Inquisition, and the game's FX techniques in particular.
"It's [FX] not so different in film, in setting the scene," lead visual effects artist Ryan Rosanky comments. "There's quite a bit of work just in all the elemental upgrades to the weapons, they each have a unique impact and sound. It really brings a lot of depth to customising your weapons because you're rewarded when you equip it you have cool flames on your bow or whatever.
"Every follower in Dragon Age has their own unique flavour in combat," Rosanky continues. "Even if you choose mage, Vivienne versus Solas versus some of the different enemy mages… they all have different magic."
He also pointed to the game's torches which can be lit, and the campfires throughout Thedas as examples of FX at work in the game.
Dragon Age Inquisition is available now, and while news on DLC is scarce, BioWare has already spoken about the future of the series. That being said, there are no plans to release a new game in the series this year.
