Fans of the Planescape role-playing setting and its PC RPG Planescape: Torment may be familiar with the Numenera universe from Monte Cook, which was crowdfunded not too long ago and spawned a Kickstarter for a spiritual sequel to Planescape: Torment titled Torment: Tides of Numenera that's being developed by Wasteland 2 dev InXile.
Given its success on Kickstarter, it should come as little surprise that its creators want to do even more with it–again on Kickstarter. This time around, Monte Cook Games, the makers of Numenera, are working with a Swedish film company Valdes/Eriksdotter to make a film based on the fantasy setting that's unlike anything else out there right now. A Lord of the Rings clone this is most certainly not.
The film, titled Numenera: Strand, is set to be a short film that follows the adventures of a scavenger who discovers an unusual object. It's something that changes "the very essence of his being" and in part serves as an introduction to the weird fantasy Numenera universe.
As such, its makers are trying to raise money on Kickstarter, seeking 290,000 Swedish Krona. They're almost there. If you'd like to give it some backing, head on over to the site.
