Bandai Namco and Studio 765 have shared the arcade trailer for Tekken 7.
This is the idle animation that the game will have in arcades, when the game boots, and to go on rotation when no one is playing.
As you can see, there is not much to talk about here. It’s a tale as old as time, with Heihachi and Kazuya, both having died and been resurrected multiple times, having another faceoff in the middle of a volcano. The trailer briefly cuts to Kazumi, Kazuya’s mother, with flashbacks to the appearances of Ogre, Devil Jin, Devil Kazuya, and the possessed Jinpachi, before cutting back to Kazuya, now activating some new manifestation of eye powers, with a laser now emanating from the third eye in his forehead.
Now, if you ever watched Tekken Blood Vengeance, or read up the backstory on recent games, you know that Harada had intended to move away from traditional Western depictions of the devil, as he used in Tekken 2, and creating a unique version of the Mishima family’s demonic powers. Both Jin and Kazuya seemed to take cues from Go Nagai’s Devilman in Blood Vengeance, but this time, we may see a completely original incarnation.
Tekken 7 will be released in arcades on February 18, and is expected to be announced for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
