343 Industries has detailed its plans to compensate Halo: The Master Chief Collection players due to the game's many online issues since launch.
In an update on the Xbox Wire, 343 boss Bonnie Ross revealed that MCC players will be able to play the campaign from Halo 3: ODST for free. The game's story mode is being developed for Xbox One, and will be available as part of The Master Chief Collection.
Ross commented:
"Development has just started on the campaign for Halo 3: ODST, which will be available within Halo: The Master Chief Collection, and upgraded to 1080p resolution, running at 60fps. It will be available for free to anyone who has played Halo: The Master Chief Collection since launch (11.11.14) through today (12.19.14)."
MCC players will also get free access to fan-favorite map 'Relic' from Halo 2, which has been fully remastered and is now running at 1080p resolution and 60fps. Fans will also get a free month of Xbox Live Gold, an exclusive in-game nameplate, and an exclusive in-game avatar.
There's no word on when ODST's campaign will be available and considering development has just begun it will likely be some time. Even so, the fact that the game is being ported to Xbox One raises the possibility that Halo Reach, Bungie's last game in the series, will also make its way over to Microsoft's newer console although you may need to pay for that one.
