Turtle Rock Studios has unveiled a new mode that ups the stakes in terms of risks and rewards in Evolve. Introducing Nest Mode.
Nest Mode adds six eggs, that can each hatch to monsters that can create a lot of trouble for the Hunters. Complicating things further, a Goliath and Kraken will also be in the map, ready to protect the eggs and take the Hunters out.
From the Hunter side, you will have to pick out the best way to manage dealing with multiple threats. If you work as a full team taking out each egg individually, you will eliminate eggs more quickly, but splitting up can also reward you in the sense that you can disable more of the eggs quicker.
From the Monster side, playing either the Goliath or Kraken, you will know where all the eggs already are, and you have some control on the eggs themselves by choosing to hatch them at anytime. The resulting monsters are miniGoliaths that can help protect other eggs, and, if hatched late enough, help you in taking out the other Hunters.
Clearly, this mode tilts the game in favor of the monsters, but having more to work with means they also have more to lose now. In either case, the game has escalated for both teams for sure.
Evolve will be released on February 10, 2015 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows.
